Married couple Gabe and Karen plan to dish up a spicy gourmet Italian meal to their closest friends, Tom and Beth, a couple they have known for years. Beth arrives alone, however, and immediately after feasting on pumpkin risotto, she admits that Tom is not present because he has left her. The announcement of the breakup sends both couples on a rollercoaster ride that takes them into uncharted territory in their friendships and marriages.
