Is
Flying Machine a professional or community theatre?
We
are poised somewhere between the two in a
category we like to call "Emerging Professional".
How
can I find out about auditions?
Through
this website, or by getting on our mailing list. If you know of
another website where we can post our audition, performance, and
class notices, please let
us know!
What kind of plays do you produce?
We're open to any genre, as long as
the scripts are great. Thus far we've been producing contemporary
American dramas and comedies.
Where are you located?
Currently, we are a Resident Company
at Common Ground Theatre in Durham. Flying Machine, like most small
theatre companies, does not have a home of its own. We're vagabonds,
producing our shows in a variety of venues across the Triangle.
Our mailing address is FMTC, 613
Thistlegate Tr.,
Raleigh NC 27610.
Is Flying Machine a part of Raleigh
Charter High School?
We've recently developed a relationship
with RCHS where we make use of the drama classroom for auditions,
rehearsals, classes, and sometimes performances.
Are you hiring?
FMTC has no full or part-time employees
at this time. Everyone is considered a freelancer or independent
contractor. We hope to hire permanent staff in the near future.
Do you accept unsolicited scripts? Yes. Send them to FMTC, 613
Thistlegate Tr.,
Raleigh NC 27610. We cannot return them, however.
Are your actors paid?
When possible, actors are paid a modest
stipend.
Are crew members paid?
When possible, stipends are given
to Directors, Stage Managers, and Designers.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Flying Machine is a non-profit
501(c) 3 organization. If you're interested in making a contribution,
please check to see if your employer has a matching gifts program.
Many area companies, such as AT&T, GlaxoSmithKline, Nortel,
IBM and Eli Lilly have such programs. Contact your payroll dept.
to find out. If they do, just fill out your portion of the gift-matching
form and include it with your donation.
